Introduction:European aerospace firm'Airbus' became the world's largest manufacturer of commercial aircrafts by overtaking long time American rival 'Boeing'in 2003.

By the end of 2002, Airbus had delivered 300 newairplanes worldwide compared to Boeing's 280. This was a change of tide for Airbus because even in 1998, Boeing had sold twice as many planes as Airbus.

The competition between the two had risen to new heights in the 21st century with both the manufacturers betting on two different philosophies for the future.

Boeing believed that smaller and faster planes like Boeing 7E7 would be in demand, while Airbus believed in larger high capacity planes like Airbus A380.
